Project 8: Christmas Ornaments

Project 8 has two unrelated parts–handwarmers and Christmas Ornaments—because I couldn’t justify giving each one a project number.   I’ve been a lazy thing with the camera lately so I still need to take pics of the handwarmers, but Kim on Ravelry took a really cool pic of the ornaments at the swap she organized.   After a bit of juggling the swap ended up at the sunny new location of Knit-Knackers, and karma must have worked its magic because this ended up working out better than the original plan.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it.  Blame the H1N1 flu because that’s probably what we had (and still have, as a I write this).  Fortunately, I had dropped off my contribution several days earlier.

You have been warned:  The rule was “Stash yarn only.”  Oy … I have novelty yarn in my stash, and the really “Christmassy” ornament patterns require wool, or tiny-weight cotton, or DPNs, or …

Okay, who doesn’t love a mini purse?  Anyone?  (Don’t say it or I’ll bring out the DPNs.)

It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the one on the right is sparkly.  It’s Bernat Lux Shine, and two or so years ago I made a poncho for Apricot out of the white/silver version.  The blue version is left over from the poncho trim (I still have several balls of the white and a couple of fuschia, which I changed my mind about using).

Yes, even the bead strings were “stash.”   I think I did okay.

I’ll be posting an update in the next few weeks, and definitely one after Christmas (can’t spoil at least one surprise :) ).  Wait for pics of the purple Double Helix DNA scarf … looks cool, even with little mutations all over (I have a small child … if it isn’t a fatal error, I’m not spending my time frogging cables!).
